I'm thinking of buying a plasma tv, are they worth it over lcd tvs?

I am looking at buying a SANYO DP50747 50" Plasma High Definition television, but I just talk to a direct tv installer and he said after a few years you have to get the plasma within the tv recharged or refilled or something like that and it would cost as much as buying a unmarked tv, is this true and is this a good tv for a price of 900 dollars? Or should I just look at lcd tvs instead?

Answers: Everything is going to LCD now that the newest ones own a picture as good as plasma. You can get other on plasma.
Your better off buying a flat screen LCD. I assume Plasma is overrated
This is a MYTH! Plasmas do not enjoy to be recharged. Whether you should go plasma or LCD is a complicated question-see link
Sanyo is not a fitting TV.

You should go with LCD TV's. Plasmas are cheaper though because most citizens are buying LCD'S. Plasmas have a horible glare when you view tv, wich is really annoying. LCD's have absolutely no Glare! And they use smaller quantity power than plasmas. but there are some things plasmas are better for, like soaring action movies or sports, but over all when cons and pros are compared- it's LCD thats better. If you'd resembling a good lcd tv, i bought a Toshiba Regza,- model #- 42rv530u.
