My samsung 58" plasma wont detect my HDcable box i.e. connected to it via HDMI.?

I selected the right port and everythings plugged in but it say No signal. Im using a cablevision box time warner cable from optimum. On my cable box it just says H and numbers going from 1 -1000 and repeating where on earth the time should be. and it wont stop. i cant even turn the cable box off without pulling the plug

Answers: HDMI is really tricky, although this should work.

Try using another type of connection like Component or even composite only just to see if you get anything. You need to establish whether the cable box is putting out anything at adjectives. Then you can work from there.
